The Ghost, the Maiden, and the Spirited Away'' (by Nujima) is a modern Romanesque tale of ghosts, girls, and sexuality that is being serialized inSoft Spirits” (Shogakukan). It depicts a “small story of friendship and farewell” that revolves around a number of strange things, and is gaining popularity.

<Synopsis>
At the Midori Bookstore, where the quiet birds are singing, Sumireko and Adashino are still busy with work and idle talk.
The store manager then appears and gives Sumireko, whose birthday is tomorrow, her “reverse shoplifting book.”
A creepy book whose origin is unknown, and we don’t know when or who left it behind. After midnight, Sumireko, now 28 years old, suddenly reads the book…

Sumireko Ogawa, a bookstore clerk in a certain town who aspires to be a writer, is once again having a fruitless conversation with her colleague Ren Adashino.
However, Adashino has a secret that Sumireko does not know.

Some of the ghost stories, urban legends, and modern-day ghosts that people talk about are real.

One day, the number of “reverse shoplifting books” suddenly appears in bookstores, and the two of them confront a series of mysterious incidents that occur in the city.
This is a story of a small friendship and farewell between an uneven duo who take on the mysteries that haunt modern society.
